Well, of course they are real. Just because you haven’t ever seen one, it doesn’t mean that dragons don’t exist. The sad truth is that there are not many left nowadays. In times gone by, we humans lived very happily with dragons by our sides. But times change; nothing stays the same for ever.

In extraordinary times, extraordinary things can happen. And these are most definitely extraordinary times. A dreadful virus is sweeping through the country – around the whole world, in fact – with consequences for us all.

But in these troubled times, siblings Alexander and Lily discover many positives as they embark on an adventure into the unknown. Along the way they find that lots of important lessons are not learned in school!

Edinnu, Species 161

The impending End of Daegs were upon the inhabitants of the planet. They had acknowledged long ago that they had no other option than to venture out into the distant stars and search for the new Eden which Gavril had apparently found on his reconnaissance, somewhere that they can call home once more.

Gidhon stood on the deck observing the planet below. He could hear the constant ebb of the starship, and his thoughts turned to the heavily laden underbelly which sat beneath his feet, his cargo… their future, for without them they as a species will not survive.

“Is all well, Gidhon?” a voice asked.

He groaned inwardly, and it was then that he remembered he was not alone, never alone to his thoughts, he shook his head as he heard Athena’s voice. Just why had they made this choice, he will never know, he thought.

Escape from the Shades

Brother and sister, Tom and Bobby, are orphans growing up rough, with their dog Tag, in the Victorian East End of London. Helped by Dr Barnardo, they have begun to make progress when Bobby is attacked in the notorious Rookeries. Tom comes to the rescue but finds himself arrested, in a cell, and then before the Beak. His trial is at the Old Bailey where he is not allowed to speak in his defence. Then Tag comes to his rescue!

Ethcara

The land is under attack from snowstorms. Each flake is warm to the touch, and when it reaches the ground, it fizzles and sizzles, then soaks in, leaving a small heat haze over the area, and eventually this poisons the ground underneath.

Whonose, a Master Shipwright, is in contact with his sister, Whome, up at Ull, about this problem, where it is decided that the danger is coming from The Halh, as before.

Whonose is chosen to visit the sanctuary of Lancheal Uzban, to get some advice. With his companions, Maximum Benkys and Ethin Twentyfive, they set out on their eventful journey.

They meet Riffik Oozdal, Ma-cheng Pom and Odu Ishema, from whom Maximum learns all about Kolta, a mind and exercise regime; and a conclusive Mind-battle ensues.

To the friend’s dismay, they are then asked to continue on their ‘wending’ to find a legendary Mist-breather. On this leg of their journey, they spend a night on the Field of Smaryde Tor, which is not as comfortable as expected.

Finally, entering the Spur of Ethcara, it is here that the legend ends, and the fate of The Great Estate is determined.

Flicker
